German tuner edo competition is determined to leave no supercar untouched, and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 is the latest to undergo the conversion. Starting with the 6.5L V12, edo adds high performance camshafts, upgraded cylinder heads, and new high flow air filters. The exhaust system is also reworked, including new headers, high-flow cats, and new mufflers. The result is 710 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 224 mph. Additional modifications include a conversion to RWD, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a new aerodynamically efficient adjustable rear wing. The Lamborghini LM002 is a creature of automotive folklore, the four-wheeled equivalent of Bigfoot (and if you've seen the tracks left by its nutty 345/60VR17 Pirelli Scorpions, that comparison is even more apt). Only a handful of people have spotted an LM in action, even fewer have driven one, and the masses would probably be shocked to learn that Lamborghini even built this 6780-pound, V-12–powered origami monster. Fortunately one of the finest examples of the 60 LM002 sold in America — one so excellent that Lamborghini President Stephan Winkelmann declared it "better than the one in our museum" — lives in Woodstock, Illinois, not far from our editorial offices. We've even got the (un-doctored) pictures to prove the sighting.

The Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster is well on its way to becoming a movie star. After the worldwide on-screen debut in Batman Begins, the supercar will also appear in another 2005 summer blockbuster: The Transporter 2, directed by Louis Leterrier, written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen and produced by EuropaCorp & Fox.

The hero in this film is Frank Martin (Jason Statham), a private chaffeur with a Special Forces background and incredible driving skills who lives his life by a strict set of rules. He drives the family members of a US Senator who has recently been appointed as the President’s new Drug Czar. When the opportunity arises and Frank needs something fast and aerodynamic, he picks a Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster to save the day in the final climatic car chase of the film.

Powered by a 12 cylinder, 6.2 litre, 580hp engine, the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster can be equipped with a manual gearbox or with a robotized e.gear system. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km in 3.8 seconds and it can reach a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

Lamborghini is readying a major expansion of its product range as the Italian supercar maker draws even closer to German parent Audi.

As early as next year, the Italians plan to introduce an all-new Miura, Lamborghini^s answer to the Ferrari Enzo. It will be derived mechanically from the midengine Audi Le Mans. The Miura will be lower, wider and shorter than the donor car. It boasts an upgraded V12 engine. The displacement goes up to a massive 6.5 liters, and the power output increases to 700 horsepower.

The next all-new Lamborghini is code-named LM00X, a high-performance version of the future Audi Q5. The LM00X features a choice of two engines: a supercharged, 4.2-liter V8 good for 400 hp and a supercharged, 5.0-liter V10 rated at 500 hp. The LM00X will be introduced in 2008.
